The latest Government data has revealed that Egyptian tourism rates increased by an impressive 15.8% between January and September 2010. Over 10.5 million tourists came to Egypt in this period, a significant increase from the 8.9 million in 2009 and the income generated through tourism rose to US$ 9.24 billion compared to US$ 7.98 billion in the same period in 2009.
All this demand is having a positive impact on the Egypt property resort markets especially Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada along the Red Sea Coast as these are the two most popular resorts.
The consistent and growing demand is driving the value of properties up in the resorts and attracting many property investors from overseas.
The last couple of years have seen capital growth rates for tourist properties of up to 20% per year and annual rental yields reaching as high as 12%.
