SendThisFile® today is announcing increased compatibility with download accelerator software, enabling faster file downloads for its file sharing service.
"Our commitment to let customers send large files to anyone, anywhere continues with download accelerator compatibility," said Scott Sexton, SendThisFile VP of Business Development. "Our latest update, gives customers more flexibility in how they choose to manage their connectivity."
Download acceleration software is used to reduce file download wait times by splitting a single file into fragments, and using simultaneous connections to download these fragments to circumvent file server bandwidth per connection limits. Download accelerator functionality relies on the seamless compatibility between a file servers configuration, web browser version, and the download accelerator software used.
"Today users can use download accelerators to increase transfer rates for their downloads." said John Stephens, SendThisFile VP of Operations. "This improved compatibility increases the flexibility of our service to send large files, broadening our appeal to a larger user base."
Prior to the update, download acceleration software would not function when attempting file downloads, with most file downloads proceeding at normal transfer rates depending on the accelerator being used.
SendThisFile is compatible with all major download accelerator software, including web browser plug-ins. The system update is free and available today for all SendThisFile customers.
