Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Team Concentrate on Jonathan's Voter Registration Drive

Mr Peter Eledan, Chairman of Goodluck Jonathan Global Campaign team stressed that his organisation has constructed an amazingly sophisticated online interface to allow its more than two million Nigerians both home and in Diaspora to directly convince their families and friends including the Youths to go out and register to vote in the 2011 general election.

The Global Diaspora Jonathan campaign Team calls its “Vote for continuity” ( http://www.goodluckjonathanfor2011.com ) in the voter registration drive a targeted voter registration strategy. The Vote for continuity programme will lay the foundation for Jonathan’s general election “get-out-the-vote” efforts for Nigerians at home and those abroad, influencing their families and friends to go out and register to vote in the 2011 general election.

Mr Peter Eledan, Chairman of Goodluck Jonathan Global Campaign team stressed that his organisation has constructed an amazingly sophisticated online interface to allow its more than two million Nigerians both home and in Diaspora to directly convince their families and friends including the Youths through a variety of Social Media activities on ‘Voters Rights and Registration; emphasising on the real reason why it is necessary for Goodluck Jonathan supporters to register in order to vote for him in April 2011 general election.

On Election Day, according to Mr Peter Eledan, who is also the Vice – Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation UK Chapter (NIDOE) projection, “Dr Jonathan could well have more than five million individuals volunteering and voting on his behalf with the aggressive online campaign strategy in place”. That should frighten other Candidates who are currently relying on the traditional style of Man- know- Man Political campaign strategy.

“I’ve seen what can happen when on a daily basis people feel like they have a wager in something bigger than themselves reminiscent of the President Barrack Obama Online Campaign Strategy and that they have the power to move the nation forward and bring about genuine transformation,” Peter said. “If we are going to conquer the challenges we face as a nation, we are going to need every Nigerian to take part by voting for Dr Goodluck Jonathan in the next election.

According to the affirmation of both Nigerians at home and in Diaspora, the international community and various world leaders which include former British Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Blair have declared their support and goodwill behind the re-emergence of President Goodluck Jonathan as Nigeria’s next President come 2011. This serves as a Political barometer that the nation is heading towards the right direction to achieve speedy socio-economic development.

Mr Peter Eledan pointed out to the newsmen that during his numerous travels around the UK, Europe, Canada and the United States of America, campaigning for Dr Jonathan, “People feel the same urgency to get Nigeria back on the pathway” He said “We need to restore some sense to our National Pride –through a hardworking culture, a “Can Do” and Do IT Yourselves (DIY) attitude. We need to end our dependence on lets wait and see attitude in moving the country forward. And we need to end this misguided belief that Nigeria’s problems cannot be solved through democratic process. The larger our involvement in April 2011 General Election, the stronger our mandate for change will be.”

While all the presidential campaigns have reached out to young voters -- the Jonathan campaign, in particular, has aggressively sought out the youth vote through such technologies as Social Media, text messaging and the Internet – feedback from http://www.goodluckjonathanfor2011.com indicates young voters are still not being tapped at their full potential.

Mr Eledan stated that the Nigerian youth are not only ready to register; they are ready to vote and serve. Among Jonathan Diaspora supporters across the globe, majority said they would work for the campaign if asked and GJGCT is working so hard with the Director General of Goodluck/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation ( http://www.goodluckjonathanfor2011.com ), Dr Dalhatu Tafida to make this vision a reality.

The Global Diaspora Jonathan Campaign Team have set the motion for the Goodluck Jonathan Voter registration drive and we want every Nigerian across the globe who wants to see a significant change and enormous development growth in Nigeria from April 2011 to please join us in this journey to ensure we mobilise enough Nigerians to register and vote for President Goodluck Jonathan to win the April 2011 General election.
