Backyard Grill & Bar will donate $1 to ALS for every Ribeye Dinner Special sold in September
After being challenged for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by a Backyard Grill and Bar customer, Rich Schmidt, owner of the Backyard, was drenched by a bucket full of ice cold water. Rich then issued a challenge to all Backyard Grill and Bar customers.

Backyard Grill & Bar is excited to announce a new challenge for all Backyard Grill and Bar customers. For every Ribeye Dinner Special sold in September of 2014 the Backyard Grill and Bar will donate $1 dollar to ALS.
What is ALS? According to the ALS association, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.
This year saw the emergence of the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money and awareness for this degenerative disease. Facebook, the popular social network site, was inundated with videos showing people drenched with ice cold water. Rich Schmidt, owner of the Backyard Grill and Bar was one such person. After being challenged by a customer, Rich gladly accepted and posted his video. Rich then issued a challenge to all Backyard Grill and Bar customers. The challenge? For every Ribeye Dinner Special sold in September of 2014 the Backyard Grill and Bar will donate one dollar to the ALS Association. The Ribeye Dinner Special is available all September and will be available at our three locations in Loves Park, Roscoe and Cherry Valley, Illinois.
