Children’s Physicians Medical Group ( http://www.cpmgsandiego.com ) (CPMG) has announced K. Zeigler, mother of three, as the winner of their recent “Win a Wii” contest.

Contestants were required to submit a short essay describing their summer vacations. Zeigler won the favor of essay judges with a sweet description of her latest family vacation taken on a budget. She describes how she used the money on a gift card to fund a three day stay at a local hotel with a pool, which seemed to be the best part of the vacation for her kids.

For her winning essay, Zeigler will receive a brand new Nintendo Wii game system and a backpack full of new school supplies for her kids to share.

CPMG is a network of over 300 pediatricians and specialists serving more than 76,000 children. The organization maintains over 50 offices in and around the San Diego and southern Riverside areas and is closely affiliated with Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.

The “Win a Wii” contest comes on the heels of CPMG’s efforts to publicize their social media campaign aimed at promoting a fit and healthy lifestyle for children. CPMG has embraced social media by distributing free informational articles, videos, and links through sites like Facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/cpmgsandiego ) and YouTube ( http://www.youtube.com/user/CPMGSanDiego ). Followers of CPMG on those sites were among the first to know about the “Win a Wii” contest, but staying informed of the latest contests is only one of the several benefits of following CPMG. Followers are also kept up to date on the latest news and information concerning children’s health.

Through their social media efforts, CPMG hopes to keep parents as informed as possible as conveniently as possible. Parents who already use social media sites now have an opportunity to turn their everyday social network use into informative and educational events. Parents don’t have to be members of YouTube to watch CPMG’s videos, but they do have to be members of Facebook in order to have full access to CPMG’s Facebook features. Signing up to join and use Facebook is absolutely free and parents can follow CPMG within a matter of minutes if they don’t already have an active Facebook account.

The information that CPMG is sharing is not just great for parents, it’s also great for grandparents, childcare workers, teachers, and anybody else who comes in contact with children on a regular basis. CPMG encourages adults who already know about all of the wonderful benefits that CPMG has to offer to pass along word of the organization, Facebook page, and YouTube channel, to parents and others who don’t know about them yet.

K. Ziegler managed to win a free Nintendo Wii and school supplies for staying connected with CPMG and being one of the first to learn about the “Win a Wii” contest. Parents and CPMG supporters who want their chance at any future contests or just want to take advantage of the vast amount of information given away for free can do what Ziegler did and follow CPMG on Facebook and YouTube.
