If your Bankruptcy case is dismissed all your debts come back including penalties and interest which stopped accruing when you filed. Your creditors are free to and likely will renew collection efforts with a vengeance.

You may be able to file for bankruptcy again, although you will be required to pay a new filing fee. Also in many cases the Court will prohibit re-filing for a period of time usually 180 days. Under such circumstances your certificate of Credit Counseling will have expired, and you will have to retake the course before submitting your new file to the bankruptcy court.

It is important that you comply with the debtor certification requirements. The Bankruptcy Code requires that before you file you complete a course in Credit Counseling, and after you file you must complete a program in Debtor Education called Personal Financial Management. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in your case being rejected by the court.

Make sure what you file with the court is complete. Be sure that you include all required schedules and that creditors are properly notified. In most cases, submitting an incomplete package will result in your case being dismissed. In many courts dismissal happens quickly without any further warning from the court. Pay attention to notices you receive from the court and appear at all meetings ordered by the court. Failure to file all documents required and failing to appear as ordered by the court is a sure way to have your case dismissed.

Before you file you should do some research so you have a basic understanding of the process. A good place to start your research is http://www.bkedcert.com/faq.php

A little preparation time is time well spent and will save you a lot grief later.
