Boston, MA, April 16, 2011 -- In light of new research that shows a growing desire among investors to put their money in funds and assets outside their own countries, Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) is recommending Brazil as a top choice for international investments.

A recent survey by global investment management organization, Franklin Templeton, found that 50 per cent of the investors questioned, spread across 12 major nations and numbering 13,000, said they are keen to invest in other countries this year. Analysts claim that emerging markets are by far the favourite option for international investment and Brazil tops the list for many. In fact, 63 per cent of those who said they wanted to invest abroad were planning to put their money into Latin America.

AAA partner, Anthony Johnson, himself an experienced fund manager, added that there are many assets worth investing in in Brazil. "Brazil has become an attractive country for foreign investment in recent years," he explained. "Everything from Brazilian real estate to forestry is seeing investment levels soar as foreigners want a slice of the very swiftly growing pie"

Johnson's perspective has been echoed by other major analysts, including HSBC Head of Global Asset Management, Pedro Bastos, who said that investors from countries like India would do well to look beyond Asian emerging markets, such as China, and look to Latin America. He said, "Brazil can offer an advantageous diversification to the Indian investor."

According to research by US-based Heritage Fund, Brazil actually became the top destination for Chinese investment, totalling $13.7 billion last year alone. Derek Scissors, a researcher at the Centre for Asian Studies in Washington, said, "Brazil was the highlight for 2010. And the profile of investments follows the pattern that has recurred in the rest of the world: The Chinese seeking natural resources. Chinese investment is definitely led by a search for commodities."

Anthony Johnson recommends that anyone looking to make international investments this year look at the wide range of ethical investment opportunities being offered out of Brazil. These include investing in plantations that adhere to new regulations about the deforestation of native forests in Brazil. Greenwood Management is one of the many funds that have been set up in recent years to provide timber and charcoal ethically through plantations of species such as Teak and White Pine.

"Forestry investment in Brazil is a great way to bring in returns that are not linked to traditional financial markets, while giving you the piece of mind that only an ethical investment can bring," added Johnson.
