Demand for loft conversions reaches new heights
Continuing rise in London property prices leads to an increase in demand for loft conversion services.

The buoyant property market in the capital means that Surrey-based Berry Construction is enjoying a big increase in demand for their loft conversions in London. Although property prices in the rest of the UK have fallen slightly, the cost of buying a property in London continues to rise, encouraging homeowners to extend rather than move.
Dan Berry, Director of Berry Construction, explained: "The number of homeowners contacting us for advice on loft conversions and home extensions is astonishing; people are definitely looking for ways to increase the space they have rather than opting to move into a bigger, more expensive property.
"I've been in the building trade for many years but have really seen a change over the last eighteen months or so. We have more and more clients who want to make their home work for them whereas in the past a lot of our work tended to be on refurbishing properties people had just moved into. The trend is definitely towards working with what you've got and extending a home so that it grows with the family."
Dan and his team have been working on loft conversions in London for several years and are experienced in helping homeowners maximise the extra space in their houses: "Lofts tend to be an unloved, forgotten space at the top of the house and are generally used as a bit of a dumping ground for junk. It's a shame because a loft can make a wonderful bedroom; we've done some fantastic conversions where a dusty old loft has been turned into a stunning master suite, complete with walk-in wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom. I think a lot of homeowners think of moving because they need more space but are put off by the cost of properties in the capital and this makes them reassess the home they have," added Dan.
