To help improve the situation of refugees, Birds and Trees uses the simple game Soledad as a means of communication and therefore would like to draw the attention of a younger audience to the refugee issue.
There is not enough money in helping millions of refugees and the services provided by aid agencies were discontinued to some extent. Many families are threatened by starvation and hypothermia in the upcoming winter. A contrast to this is the life in our society which sometimes makes it difficult to feel sympathy. This is where the simple game Soledad sets in. "Through a pictorial metaphor the importance of this issue is identified and made available to a young audience," says Marc Kamps, founder of the Birds and Trees UG. "With our first product we want to unselfishly help and point out how a refugee feels in a foreign environment." In the game Soledad the player takes on the role of a Mexican who awakens in Antarctica and wants to go home. "The icy arctic uninhabited wasteland symbolizes the environment of the refugees and the approaching winter. The figure in the role of the Mexican represents the feeling of being a foreigner in a strange environment, "explains Marc Kamps. Soledad should playfully create an awareness of the refugees needs for protection. The game rules are very simple and only one finger is required. If you want to be really good, then you need two. "The proceeds will unfortunately not regulate all financial problems. We hope however that it helps. With Soledad everybody just has to bend a finger to make a contribution. " The game Soledad is financed by advertising and available free of charge in the Apple App Store. The advertising profit is contributed to the UN Refugee Aid. In addition Birds and Trees offers the sale of Soledad T Shirts. These proceeds are also contributed.
