For every LED based application, a power supply must be determined in order to effectively power an solid-state lighting (SSL) fixture. There are two main LED power supply options to consider: LED driver module solutions and Integrated Circuit solutions. In order to determine the appropriate solution, various specifications need to be addresses, including input voltage (AC-DC or DC-DC), output current and voltage, and output power.
Other additional features can be considered for an LED power supply solution including: dimming (analog, i.e. 0 - 10V; digital, i.e. PWM, DALI, DMX; phase, i.e. TRIAC - leading edge, trailing edge), single or multi channel LED driver, and IP rating.
