Brats Launch Bratcon (The Brat Connection) Radio Show

Dennis Campbell and Pat Caves to launch BRATCON Radio on Veteran’s Day at 4 PM Pacific Time on the VoiceAmerica Variety Channel
Phoenix, AZ, United States (pr4links.com) 03/11/2010
No, not the kind of brats born into monied families with a silver spoon in their mouth and always whining about something! We’re talking about “Military Brats” – the sons and daughters of current and former service members and other federal government employees who were and are currently posted at military or government installations in the U.S. and around the world.

American BRATS, an acronym borrowed from the British (British Regimental Attached Traveler), were first created following World War II. The rebuilding of Europe and Japan required large concentrations of military service members and other government employees to be stationed for extended periods of time, in a multitude of locations around the world at such military posts and bases. The US Government then created the policy and practice of having “on base” housing, schools and related community infrastructure for families; spouses and children, who were now accompanying the service member on site. Generations of individuals began living the adjunct life of government and military service. A new and relatively unknown sub-culture of our society of “military brats” was created. Many of the “brats” who experience this lifestyle, found a special bond exists among them, and arguably the experiences they have living overseas has caused them to be exposed to many experiences which make them more worldly and adaptable than most of the American population. Thus, a sub-culture of “brats” desiring a connection to other members of their sub-culture is the result and the inspiration for creating a way for members of this sub-culture to connect with one another.

Two brats, Dennis Campbell of Phoenix, Arizona and Pat Caves of Jacksonville, Florida, have co-created “BRATCON” –“The Brat Connection.” In addition to the radio show, they provide forums for brats to connect via their website, http://www.Bratcon.com, blog at http://Bratcon.com/blog, Twitter and Facebook page. In addition to listening live, listeners will also be able to revisit shows through the downloadable archive of past shows via iTunes.

BRATCON is a weekly one hour radio talk show aimed at honoring and examining all aspects of the American Brat culture. The show will begin airing on Thursday, November 11th, 2010 (Veterans’ Day) at 4:00p PT (1600 hrs) with the VoiceAmerica Internet Radio Network Variety Channel. Internet radio affords Brats and those curious about Brats to tune in from anywhere in the world simply with an internet connection.

Listeners will be encouraged to participate in the live broadcasts each week through call ins, live chat, texts and emails. With the benefits of modern technology, listeners from around the world can come together and put their unique imprint on the show. Will approximately 15 million past and present Brats – BRATCON is the show for and about a significant part of American culture.

About BRATCON Radio:
BRATCON is a unique show that will appeal to civilians and military alike. From week-to-week the hosts will explore topics relating to the lives of those who spent their childhood years moving from state-to-state and country-to-country following their parents’ assignments. In addition to looking back at how it was, they will explore how those experiences shape their lives today - especially as we move forward in today’s global community. They will facilitate unvarnished discussions of how those experiences contrast to those who experienced a more “traditional” upbringing.
