NAS Storage or Network Attached Storage is a device which is mainly used to save and chunk data over a concerned network. This particular device can be defined as a high capacity stockpile device that is installed in a network and is fragmented by all the systems on the labyrinth. Unlike typical stockpile appendixes, the NAS performance device is not required to be planted on any computer. It comprises of all the components, which are required to consummate any instruction for data deliverance. It can be referred as a stand alone appendix that is connected to a Local Area Network (LAN), which is usually an Ethernet network.

The software runs on embedded operating system instead of a fully featured operating system and is set up by an in-built Graphical User Interface or GUI. In many stockpile appendixes, more than one hard disk can be adhered to the head as the consumers connect to the head in order to access the content and not the independent disks. The storing capacity of the hard disk can increase up to 5000 GB along with 32MB buffer size.



A NAS storage appendix interacts mainly via TCP/IP (Transfer Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and is adapted of understanding several network protocols including IP Exchange, NetBEUI, NFS (Network File System), CIFS (Common Internet File System). Many NAS performance devices are also compatible with HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), thereby enabling the clients to download files in their web browser from this warehouse device.
